The hole card blocker blocks your cards, as demonstrated in video 10 I believe of my own.
Now, it has a "peek" button so you can view your cards at any time. If you find yourself making inconsistent preflop plays and feel that you play with emotion preflop rather than objective decision making, it might be good to use it OOP and let villain make their play then figure out which hands you would fold/call/raise then reveal your hand and follow through with it.
Otherwise, it's good to play super low stakes and work on bluffing and hand reading, as I demonstrated in that video. I believe I actually won 3/3 games in that video without peeking at my hole cards.
