Hey, firstly i would like to say that i think im a loosing player even at the micros. Even though it sucks to say this i feel its important when to know when to quit. I feel like im burning through money at the moment. So im just asking everyone really whether its worth me depositing around 100 buyins and just limiting myself to that as i dont have a huge disposable income. I do feel that im taking my poker seriously and have done for a while, i try to adapt to players and then they change their playstyle completly and i seem to struggle adapting to them again cause its usually them becoming very spazzy. I would like to just get better and just play because i enjoy the challange so what would you guys say is a good thing to do other than watch the vids here cause im doing that alot with little success and feel i do fully understand the concepts in the videos ive watched. As you maybe able to tell i also have confidence issues with my game so what do you guys do about that?Sorry if this seems very monotonous but im struggling to fully articulate myself lol.Martin
At micros, it's easy to play just for fun and consider losses the same as a movie ticket. However, I'm sure there must be some major leaks in your game if you're not beating them at all after a large sample. With some decent effort, everyone should be able to at least break-even at the $5 level.Since you've already put quite a bit of work in, I'd be happy to do a free leakfinder for one of the games you felt were really tough (message me). I've never done a leakfinder before and I hope this will be good practice. Although, Fyodor and other coaches can probably offer better leakfinders since they have way more experience and are better players anyway. I am only a 100s reg.

I would recommend taking chipleader up on his leakfinder offer. He's a successful player at the $100 level and I believe he was playing low stakes games when he joined this site and they helped him as he worked hard for his success moving up the levels. He should be able to give you some very valuable feedback on the strengths and weaknesses in your game. Updating this thread after that point is a good idea, then we can really get into some specific (and more valuable) feedback for you.
Greetings Izystar, I think you ask a very honest question. That fact that you ask it tells me that you have hope ;-) You probably haven't heard about my own story, but I've always been a winning player at online ring games and live ring and tournament poker. However, these sit and go's are a different beast altogether. They make incredible demands on your most mentally and emotionally compared to other forms of poker--at least from my vantage point. It's a very intimate and personal form of poker and it's easy to let your emotions dictate your decisions rather than your intellect. And even if you're a true stoic, you still can lose as there are so many different variables at play. I do believe there are some people who simply cannot beat these games for whatever reason. I think people with certain personality types are going to have a rough go of it (myself included). I'm a very anxious and introspective person who often gets hung up on small details. I have to fight this tendency and try to make rational plays instead of letting my neurotic quirks interfere with my judgment.About a year ago I made my final buy-in and told myself I was going to take a one-year break if I was unable or unwilling to stay within preset bankroll requirements. I lost my money in short order and then took my break. I came back to HUSNG and watched the freebie vids then re-signed up through the standard membership. Currently I'm playing the 1 Euro-$6 turbos and beating them at a very reasonable clip. But I've put a lot of work in and haven't strayed from my strategy. Well, that's not entirely true. I have tilted, but I have done a much better job of short-circuiting bad decisions by stopping my play. Also, I've watched about 50 videos (some two or three times) and went over old notes I took on videos. Also, I read 2+2 strategy threads and other learning materials. And I'm trying to participate on the boards. Furthermore, I have poker discussions with friends. The social aspect is very important as it keeps me accountable and enables me to have some sort of feedback on my play.It sounds like you've watched the videos and have invested time in improving your game. However, one thing you might have overlooked is the 'feedback' side. When I first joined HUSNG I had three hand history reviews: one from Rypac, one from Primordial, and one from Jason Kiddo. They were all extremely valuable as we often do a horrible job of assessing the quality of our own play. Of course, it can be very expensive, especially when you're a cash-strapped micro-player like I am. I have the same issues with disposable income and have to be very conservative w/ my expenditures. That offer from Chipleader was totally cool. I would totally take him up on it and see what kind of feedback he can offer. Another idea might be to hook up with other HUSNG'ers. One former (I think he's no longer here) member taught me how to use Camtasia (spelling?) and other software programs. I was making movies of myself playing w/ live commentary. Then I would send them off and receive his in exchange. We had a small group of members who were involved with this (and other activities) and it really helped me improve my game. Unfortunately, I could beat the $5's but I couldn't beat the 50's. And when I lost at the 5's I would soon proceed to lose my bankroll. So in conclusion, maybe you need to participate on the boards and find some poker buddies. If you play at Pokerstars, I wouldn't mind sitting in and watching you play a few games. I'm not claiming expert status, but I have been a winning player since I returned to poker (I'm only talking like 500 games). I play the very, very low limits and my biggest enemy is the rake! Wishing you the best,Jeffrey
Ive taken chipleader up on his offer and haverecorded and am in the process of uploading a video that i felt i played pretty poorly. Thanks RyPac13 and REBTgenius for your input. Will update ater chipleader gets time to look at my video and is able to give feedback.
