Hi I am playing on stars 20s regspeed now...I am a new one at 20$ limit and have about 200 match there with a roi 5%.What I am starting to undertand is that making a good adjustments on opponents is more important as a hand which I am holding or how I am running. But problem is that at 20$ is too much aggresive "tricky" players. They are loosing players almost but through the match it dont looks like that.I am trying a different strategies but really dont know what is correct and what isnt. They are able to make a good bluffs and puting pressure on me through whole match. They are playing almost every hand and bluff me sometimes with a pure air so I have a hard time to read how strong their hands really are. When I was on 10s I guess my edge on opponents was the same thing, that I was putting pressure on opponents and waiting for their mistakes. But now I cant do this. How should I play against this type of opponents?Should I play it simple or be even more loose and aggressive like they are?
Start min-raising pre-flop and tightening your opening range. Then balance your check back ranges. So dont just check back the turn when you are weak or miss (easily exploitable), check back when strong aswell. This will make your c-bets more effective as floating the flop will lose its efffectivness. You still want to double barrel when you think there is value to be had as they will have a weaker range than you.
You definitely also want to look for situations where their range is weaker than usual and fight back in those spots. You can't just sit on a hand, except in the slowest of structures and/or against the craziest of opponents.
Believe it or not, the $20's are tougher games than the $50's. Its amazing. I played the $20's on UB for 3 months and was surprised at how tough the games were. I would win, lose, win, loose, win, win, loose. It was so hard to go on a hot run based on the competition. But now that I've moved up in stakes, my winrate is 2x better and the opponents are much softer. When I sharkscope villain 95% of the time its a pleasure player who's takin a shot at a higher level. I could play these guys all day. Consider it an option. Get out of the rat race and join the corner office.
@gjacksong19Is it possible that you were a better player by the time you moved up to the $50 level?PaulIB_FishingJust wondering about gjacksong19 statement that the $20 are harder than the $50
I don't think so. I played pretty solid at the 20's. TAG typically. When I look back on the last 4 years of my online career, its the 20's that have given me the most challenges. In today's game its hard to make any serious money if you only stick to the 20's. Thats beer money your playing for. If you're serious about poker and want to generate some decent cash flow, the lowest HUSNG level you should play is $50. Thats just my opinion.
I believe you are correct when you say to make more than beer money you need to be playing at the $50 as a minimum. It tickles me when I play people at the $11 who think they are world class hotshots. I call them big time $11 Ballers and Shot Callers.PaulIB_FishingFuture $50 Baller and Shot Caller lol
