Maybe i want to switch from the Turbo's to the Hypers, but i got some questions. - Why should i do that? - Till wich limit i can beat the hypers, if i beat the $7s on Pokerstars Turbo? - Which BRM should i handle? - What is a relevant ROI for the $1.50s, $3.50, $7s and $15s? When it is a relevant sample? - Which thing should i study for the hypers, and till which level i can beat it then? - How about downswings? I will play 1 table at a time. Kindly regards,TheMachineCheck
1 table at a time is a good idea.To answer your questions.- The advantages to playing hypers are that generally there is more $ per hour potential for you to earn. Of course, you may be a weak short stack player who can't handle constant all in situations and the variance that goes with it, and you might be a strong deep player, which would mean that turbos are more suited to your skillset currently (or even regular speeds). But on average, you can earn more per hour on hypers (my example is just of a player type that would not earn more per hour without improving their weaknesses).- It's impossible to say what level you can definitely beat in hypers if you beat $7 turbos. Even if you gave us a sample with an ROI, we wouldn't be able to translate that to hypers very well without knowing how well you play at shorter stacks. Hypers are very similar to situations where you are 30bb or less in turbos, except they play faster and a lot of your decisions are with even less information (in turbos, you've usually played 5-20 hands before you get short stacked, so you at least have a little more information to make decisions on). So default play/population tendencies are a bit more important in hypers than the end game of turbos.- ROIs 2-5% is generally what you see from good players. Higher is possible, obviously lower is possible too.- I would study Hokie's new class pack, Chadders Hyper Turbo Pack, the Premium Pack, we'll have a 2nd Bernard Pack to go with the bundle we sell, all those are good options. If you don't have the budget for those, the Standard Pack is an excellent resource as well.- Make sure you play a lot of games, stay disciplined mentally and really go through any videos you purchase. It's still impossible to say what buyin you'll beat, but fairly relentless hard working players can usually get to the $60s or higher over time. A lot of what prevents people from getting to the $60s are large mental leaks, large motivational leaks and large focus leaks. If you can overcome any of those, it is very likely you can beat the $60s or higher. Once you start getting into the $200+ range, it's an area where it is very person dependent. Some guys hardly study and it just clicks and they beat up to $500s. Some guys work hard and they just struggle with one or two major things and they can't get further than $100s or $200s. It really depends on the person, and I'd need a lot more information and familiarity with you as a person and player to even begin to guess where you'll land with hard work.- Mersenneary's article about confidence intervals and winrate is a great place to look at as far as what samples are relevant, how confident can you be in your ROI/winrate.
I have 10% ROI in PokerStars 30 dollar normal speed HU SNG`s and 6% in turbos. The problem with normal speed games is that you need to wait for the fish sometimes very long. In turbos that is usually not the case.
Nevertheless, I just decided to start studying hyper turbos. I started with 15 dollar level, played them about 300 and lost 35 buy ins. Then I moved even lower to 7 dollar level and the same shit continued. in 500 games I lost about 45 buy ins again.
I have not used HEM or PokerTracker so I do not know what my EV has been in these games. The fact still is that when I go all in, I am usually the favourite to win. The standard way to lose is that when a villain raises, I go all in with a hand that is at least 55% favourite to win, usually I have 60% equity or even more. I have started to collect via e-mail these hands from PokerStars since yesterday. It is so unfu***ing believeable how this type of variance can even be possible under these circumstances. My losing curve (last 800 games) is just like straight line going down in 30 degrees angle. This type of curve is impossible to get with the variance calculator even if you put your winrate as low as to 53%.
I will continue studying these games, though. However, the variace does not have a memory so I really do not what to expect. In normal speed or even turbos I have many winning streaks more than 10 games. In hyper turbos it seems to be impossible to win 3 games in a row.
I do not recommend these games to anybody who cannot handle the variance inside his/her head. I have huge problems now and I condider myself as a very experienced HU SNG player.
