If he is a winning regular he probaly put you on any hand but a straight. If he puts you on either twopair, set, JT, overpair, etc. pp he might think that you see his shove as weakness. I doubt that a winning player tries to bluff you with an overbet on the river, so I see him pretty much haveing you beat. If it were a fish I would asume that he has not the straight (because he would not check it behind on the turn) and it might be a terrible steal attempt.

i think he could be calling your c/r with hands like 97, 87 or maybe strong 9x. But the thing is if he's a winning player i just dont see why he would want to shove his straight on river as overbet, coz he probably knows u have strong hand and he would like to get some value out of it, unless he thinks u are compleate fish who would love to call that shove with marginal type of hands. I know some ppl shove their nuts as big overbet but i think more often here he knew he was beaten.
