My 2nd day at husng.com, watched and studied a few videos and had a pretty good session. In my session review I looked for hands to talk about.Found 3 very interesting hands. I will make a thread for each single hand, so its easier to read through the history. Here we go. I played against this specific opponent about 9 times in the last 14 days. We know each other, and his idea of me must be of a player who raises, c-bets, sometimes shuts down on the turn, sometimes not. He for sure KNOWS I'm aggressive. He on the otherside is one of the better opponents I played at this low stakes, 3-betting me pre around 18% of the time, calling wide and playing aggressiv (but in the wrong spots imo) also.He must know that I will attack every paired board when this hand came up $15.00/$30.00 No Limit Holdem • 2 Players Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter BBkweetni$1665.00 BTNHero$1335.00 Effective Stacks: 45bb Pre-Flop ($45.00, 2 players) Hero is BTN Hero raises to $90.00, kweetni calls $60.00 Flop ($180.00, 2 players) kweetni checks, Hero bets $150.00, kweetni calls $150.00 Turn ($480.00, 2 players) kweetni checks, Hero checks River ($480.00, 2 players) kweetni bets $225.00, Hero calls $225.00 Final Pot: $930.00 kweetni shows Hero shows Hero wins $930.00 ( won +$465.00 ) kweetni lost -$465.00 My plan for the hand. I raised pre - usually I open 2x, but I had a rush of good hands, come back form a 2:1 chip disadvantage and felt like I will get value from AK from so many bad hands raising 3x. Then this nice flop. Of course if I attack any paired board I will miss, I will bet this one also. I felt he could float me oop with any two given the game dynamic. So I decided to check this turn (whick usually I would bet) and hope he bluffs on the river. On the river he pleased me. I never had the intention of raising, because either he has air or full.Do you think every now and then I can play a strong hand this way or do I lose too much value from other Kx, Flush and Straight Draws? Is there some kind of metagame in this hand, such as saying to villain "just because I check the turn, it doesn't mean I don't have a hand" in further hands? Or do I simply overthink and should just bet bet bet.
Given you got history with this villian this play is fine to me. but against a random i'd bet the turn and and C/f the river. imoregarding the metagame i think your overthinking it a bit, since you also have to take into account that the board is paired
I think this is fine in a vacuum, if he thinks your aggressive and floats v alot of your cbets on this type of board then its ideal. I think you can probably get it in on the river for value, the way the hand plays out and given your image KT/KJ type hands have a hard time folding. I think on a side note though by not betting the turn you're making yourself very exploitable on this texture if your two barrel range i likely to be predominately air(i.e you trap made hands). Also, what do you think the possibilities of him c/r the turn are when he floats this light(is he aggro enough to do sometihng like this or would a turn bet fold out all air in his range?) I think for betting the turn and river to be better he only needs to c/r air a small amount.
