Interview with Helio "hneves182" Neves
Two days ago Helio "hneves182" Neves took down TCOOP #1 $27 NLH 6-max event for $110,000!
Charles Hawk: Congratz about your run. How are you feeling? Tell me about your emotions and thoughts.
Helio "hneves182" Neves: Feeling pretty good, there's nothing like the sense of relief/accomplishment that comes after a nice MTT win. I had too many close finishes for 6 figure scores on the last ~6 years so I was really looking forward to finally getting one.
Charles Hawk: It was the very first tournament of TCOOP marathon. Have you planned to play this event? How long everything lasted?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: I did plan to play most of the events, I always plays the COOP events a lot. This one lasted 4.5hours which came as a big surprise when I looked it up after it was done, because it felt like it was a 10hours tourney. Granted I was already playing for 6 hours or so when it began, because I start my MTT sessions in the morning, but you really lose track of time during deep runs.
Charles Hawk: Tell me about the process of whole tournament and how everything went. When have you started to see that you have a decent shot to go till the end?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: Since I had so many deep runs in huge events I really don't get my hopes up when I am getting close, just keep my cool and try to play my best as usual. But when I won a huge pot 30 left and became the overwhelming chipleader, for some reason it really hit me as a very real possibility of going all the way (maybe also because it was a really really soft field throughout, so when I got so many chips I knew it was gonna be very easy from that point on).
Charles Hawk: Any memorable moments which you want to share?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: One funny moment was during the final table, when I had the chiplead with 3 or 4 times as much as the 2nd and they were all tied with 10bb, so I was naturally shoving all hands and one guy asked for a deal. I declined and the very next hand I shoved T7o into his AA and turned a straight, I guess the poker gods punish people that try to make deals!
Charles Hawk: How you celebrated it?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: I hugged my fiancee a lot and had a beer with a couple of friends, that's plenty of celebration for me, I'm a simple man!
Charles Hawk: Describe your 2015 achievements pokerwise. Are you happy with them?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: 2015 was really cool, I had good MTT results as well with a 1st and a 2nd in the Sunday 500 and a LAPT Main Event 6th place as main results.
Charles Hawk: What are your poker plans for future after this win?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: I don't make big plans, I just grind, study and try to improve everyday and see where that takes me.
Charles Hawk: Any plans off-tables for 2016?
Helio "hneves182" Neves: Yeah wedding was already in the plans for December. Maybe and not many travel plans yet but should hit some LAPTs and maybe WSOP.
