Well, to start, this is prolly not workout very good since i stole the line from Michael Jackson, apresentation of last tour, somedays before he died but anyway...
Some background story:
Start playing cash game back on 2009 making nearly 400$ in one month after that decided to change to sng, which lead me to lose almost a 4 months of playing since i was breakeven/losing player on SNG's. Withdraw most the money and made esporadic deposits on diferents rooms, to play some husng, some mtts, and mostly cash.
Since the beginning of the year, decided to play more MTT's than anything, which lead me to make some micro cash.
My main problems are tilt problems, and most of the times when i get a good enough bankroll(+500$) i tend to withdraw like half the money and continue playing, then i hit some small downswing and rarely recover from that. This happen to me like 4 times.
I think i never take poker seriously enough, since my first year playing online poker, i spend alot of time on poker, most of the time reading theory and some other type of things.
I will deposit 100$ on some room to start playing. Starting at 1.50
My plan at this time is more about study the game and ready alot here, and enjoy the free videos you guys offer.
Goal for this month is:
- Read Mers e-book.
- Watch 20 of your free videos.
- Play one-tabling.
My goal for this year, and this is probably not possible but is to get to stakes level 30 or 60!
One question for you husngers: What free videos do you guys recommend?
And im looking to play at some other room than Stars, i was thinking FTP, ipoker or even 888 poker. What do you guys recommend? (Im not worry about graphics)
How'd you end up doing?
Non Stars, maybe iPoker (rake gets far better as you move up and we have great deals there), maybe FTP, maybe Black Chip/America's Room (US facing, but really soft and reliable).
Free video wise, if you're playing hypers, just look at any of the hyper vids in the free section and go with who you like, there are a lot of different teaching styles from many different instructors. I think some of Coffeeyay's videos are very accessible.
Hi, like the quote from the king of pop there ;)
For the tilting and withdraw issue, i think you should really told you that your bankroll is vital and really important to rise up from stakes to stakes. You can make some withdraw and this is not a problem, i recommend doing it i like jennifear point of view of cashing according to the volume:
Cashout strategy:
Pay yourself according to volume, not results.
Remove the following from your bankroll every time you play these games:
HU: 2% of your buyin (1.5% for hyper)
and also taking shit strategy:
Then allow yourself 1/4 of your cashout money for entertainment. Your shot can be your entertainment. For instance, if you are a $5 player who would like to take a shot at a $50 game, then save up $200 in cashouts, and then withdraw $150. use the other $50 for your game. Obviously this is not optimal, but some people will explode their bankrolls at some point if they never get a chance to chase their dreams!
Just one rule:
- If you take a shot and win, cash out at least 75% of your winnings RIGHT AWAY. Don't try to use the shot to pad your bankroll. The bankroll management plan is already designed to keep you where you are going to make the most money per hour
Some of those strategy might be old but i think most of them stil good to consider.
Goal setting is nice, just a nice tips there you can also consider make some non number short-mid-long term goals so this way whatever or not your achieve the goals you wont be to much worry it your fail and happy if you succeed, yes this approach is not the same one people tend to use like: be positive and push yourself to the limit but this way you will appreciate your evolution as a player and see where you are in the past and now where you stand!
Video wise: I recommend: Coffee, zzztilt, phl500, ph33rox, Cog dis those should give you good base and tools to play and improve your thinking process!
For the rooms i really have to ask you why? What is your main choice to choose a rooms? I like pokerstars because tons of action whatever the stakes you are at 1.50 rake is ok (probably better than other rooms) and if you put some volume and rise up stakes you can have some good rewards to boost up your own bankroll. Nice freebies aswell.
Keep us update of your progression and GL!
