What do you guys think of an mental game thread? I need some further advise on the tilt problem :: Predicting bad beats (page 92-93)I understand that it causes me to tilt because I predict bad beats based on previous data. But still I cant do down to the root with it. What does jared mean that it only becomes a problem if ..How do you handle this issue? The next problem I have is that I can't continue play fish if I've lost 2-3 matches against them where they where huge underdogs and sucked out because I predict that they are just gonna continue be lucky. How do you deal with this?
Great thread man....Anyway I can't help you, I purchased the book but I'm working with him right now, so I get personalized tips... :PAn issue could have more layers, try to think more on a deeper level, and in if you can't understand on your own, contact him ;)He's very friendly
Sweat!Do you think you can post in his forum if you haven't been coached by him?If not, how would it be to make a subforum, like the fast-track program, where you can pay a monthly fee and you can ask him as many questions as you want?

I've done a couple of life-changing sessions with Jared. He is the best.I also REALLY like the idea of a mental game thread. As for your questions:Try to stop thinking about your opponents as individual opponents. Look at this way:We have a 60% longterm winrate on Villain A - Villain A overbet shoves a ton pre, never folds post, berates in chat, very out of control. We have a 60% longterm winrate on Villain B - Villain B folds way too much in virtually all situations and is super passive.VILLAIN A AND VILLAIN B ARE THE EXACT SAME PLAYER. We have a 60% winrate on both, so their is essentially no difference. The only difference then is that when we lose to Villain A it is probably far more tilting than vs Villain B :). It doesn't matter who the money you win comes from, it all spends the same.
The next problem I have is that I can't continue play fish if I've lost 2-3 matches against them where they where huge underdogs and sucked out because I predict that they are just gonna continue be lucky. How do you deal with this? When you win 5 straight games vs a fish, you were not supposed to win that many games. You got lucky. Should you quit then? Obviously no, since you have a big edge.If you are focusing so much these super-short term fluctuations of variance, then you just need a better understanding of variance. It takes a lot of games to realize our expected winrate. I would spend a lot of time plugging in different winrates/sample sizes into the HUSNG.com variance calculator and getting familiar with what kind of swings you can expect.Poker is a game of statistics. These statistics typically require large sample sizes to even themselves out. If poker were like chess, and you won every game vs opponents you were better than - noone would gamble on poker. That would be a nightmare for us, don't you think?
