Me and the Mrs (to be) are planning on visiting america for a month for our honeymoon, we're stopping off in NY and Vegas along the way to California and have hired one of these www.escapecampervans.com, we want to avoid looking like tourists :)
We are planning on seeing lake tahoe then going to San Fran and down the coast to LA. Any of you chaps from the US can recommend any must see sites/towns along the way (will be there in June), we're interested in lots of stuff, indoors, outdoors, getting drunk, etc. etc?
Colorado would be a great place to stop off on the way. So would Arizona/New Mexico or even Utah. They are just east before you reach Cali.
What exactly are you looking to do? You could do anything from drink a ton of local beer to going on an Amish tour in PA to checking out the mass lines of water parks in Wisconsin Dells to riding the best roller coasters in the world in Ohio at Cedar Point. All but Wisconsin are directly on your way from NY to California.
Hi, we are actually flying from NY to Vegas and picking up the Scooby van in Vegas, plan is to drive from there to the grand canyon to visit the ball and chains grandparents (they did want to meet us in vegas but i managed to gently steer them away from that idea, thank god). Then a loooong trek from the GC to lake tahoe, from tahoe to san fran and down the coast. Maybe stop at one of the national parks along the way.
I guess if there are any music festivals of any sorts going on that would be cool but I wouldnt know where to start looking, other stuff that id like to do would be to either go shark fishing or see a great white, i hear that Monteray might be a place to be able to do that, not that they stroll around the streets or anything.
So i guess its really a case of what are the best things to see between vegas and cali, also how realistic is it to do this drive over about 2 1/2 weeks, the UK is like the size of a small gold fish compare to the US so not sure if im taking on too much?
