when i start a session or a game and i make a play i know it is correct but if someone asked my why did i make that play i cant answer them. How can i get better about talking about my game?
Well, why did you make the play if you cannot explain it? Probably you did read somewhere that you should openshove 44 when you are 15bb deep.
Take the ROFL-Chart for example: you might increase your winnings by useing it, even if you do not understand it. The difference between you and a player who useses the ROFL chart AND understands the idea behind it, is that only the second person is able to adjust the strategy on his own when the population tendencies which ROFL is built on change.
You can see this lots of time in hand evaluation forums. There will be player who post stats, post notes about the player and really go in depth and then you will have players who post "9bb. He open shoved. I had AA. Should I call?"
Your correct pal! You made me understand why i raise its because I've tread it somewhere that that play is standard! Is their anywhere i can find out or go more in dept? I want to know why I actually use these strategies plAys and charts instead of like you said just applying them I need more info because I feel like I'm a robot 99% of the time and I feel like I'm wasting my time doing it if ye get me? Thanks for the reply barin again much apriciated!
If you wanna understand the *why* you need to go in the depth. Do calculate what your EV is when you openshove A3o 14bb deep. Compare it with folding. Once you did the math, post the hand in the hand evaluation forum (prefereably on 2+2). Post the hand. Post the situation. Post your way of tought. Post the math. Ask whatever you want to know, but also tell why you wish to receive the answer.
Most importantly; you need to get the experience and this is something you can get in the aftermath (=session analysis) of the session only. It's not a tragic to make a mistake (you paid the price all ready!), but it is a tragedy to make the same mistake over and over again (you will pay again and again).
Last but not least; do not try to answer any question there is about poker. There is no need for it. But try to figure out the basic stuff that repeats itself over and over again. Once you know why you should openshove A5o for 15bb, it will only take a minute to figure out why you have to shove A4o 16bb deep.
