Fold

Given your notes and description of this villain, I really don't think he is going to be jamming worse. If he isn't capable of betting all the way with middle pair then I don't think he is ever going to be shoving for 4x the pot with worse than a middle pair. Also, the fact that he 3-bet you so small would make me very cautious because a lot of players would only do this with a big pocket pair.
Without more of a read on the villain I think this is going to be a fold by a long shot.

My thoughts for this hand

My thoughts for this hand were that this guy is not betting sth. like higher pocket pair because it is somewhat thin value and this guy was not value betting thin for sure. If he has a king it does not make sense to just go all in. I think  that he is weak tight and here he must either be super strong or bluffing. In this case he showed aj.

Villains

It isn't optimal to do this with any hand, but we're basically guessing in the dark as to what is going through their head. I see a lot of villains do this with AA because they are more concerned with not losing than they are with getting value. It is an irrational mentality, but it definitely exists in a lot of players.
I'm sure there are hands that you are beating, but I don't think they make up a big enough portion of a somewhat unknown villain's range to make this a call. I also think that most of the hands you are beating will fare better against 88 than 88 fares against the hands it is behind. The draws will have quite a few more outs against 88 than 88 has against a higher pair.
