how much do the site instructors make as a ballpark figure?I like cog dis videos (just got a new membership but was here before) and I looked him up on sharkscope.. it says $15,600 profit with 2% roi for STs over 5796 games since September.. that seems kind of low to me, is it normal? i guess he dedicates more time to coaching and gets more money from there
Things like this happen sometimes when you're a pro:You really want to take a look at the last year with a lot of pros to get a better idea of recent results. While some of the very best have very little variance (Serkules), most good players (even the best usually) experience rough stretches of variance and even rough stretches of play where they just aren't playing up to their potential. Often the two go hand in hand (running like crap then playing worse after that). While exact figures are private, coaches generally earn anywhere from 1-5x their playing hourly for videos. This varies quite a bit and there are so many factors that can influence pay (and an hourly too). You'll also find that some videos coaches put in an extra bit of effort, particularly in cases where members are really interactive with the coach, it can really make the difference between a good video and a great one.Coaches don't make a living from videos, not because their hourly rate is bad from it, but because we just don't really purchase enough hours per month for anybody to make a great living alone and you can see that there are usually 1-3 videos from any given instructor per month, 4 is fairly rare and more than 4 has almost never happened. So a coach may work anywhere from 1 to 5 hours per month on videos.Private coaching can be more lucrative, but usually requires a lot of work from a coach. A lot more time spent intensively coaching students, not to mention a lot of prep work and organization is common from the coaches that earn 5 figures per year coaching.Cog is really an exception, I can't name too many others off hand that have been able to consistently play and coach (and make videos too) at a pretty high level for the better part of two years. Usually coaching turns into very part time or long blackout dates while grinding, or grinding ceases while coaching hours fill up.
thanks for the detailed answer, makes sense
I am currently coached by Cog (HUSNG SUPERTURBO COURSE 3 of 4 lessons done ;-)) and I think, I can speak for lots of his students when he say, that Paul not only has very good knowledge about the game itself, but also has a real interest in his students (I asked him tons of questions outside the coaching hours and he replied to all of them within 5 minutes or so - given that he is online, which he is a lot). I am really looking forward to the 4th and final session for this coaching. I do not think that it has been the last coaching I have booked by Paul which is because he fullfils the two things who are most important to me: - He can teach (just because someone destroys the opponents on his BI this does not mean, that he can transfer this knowledge)- He does not teach you what you should do in any given situation, but instead arms you with the knowledge WHY, you SHALL take *THIS PARTICULAR* Action when Situation X appears. This is my 4th professional coaching (alltough the first from a HUSNG-Coach) and with some other coaches I just had the feeling that they could only teach me what to do but not why. Why I would not recommend Cog?: I do not want to strengthen my opponents ;)
Hi.
Can you say how is avg(it can be with big approximation) hourly for regular players from: 50, 100, 200 Super Turbo and Turbo? It will be nice to know what we can expect.
Hourlies for the better players at a buyin level can generally reach around the buyin amount. So a really good $100 player can earn around $100 per hour of play, etc. That's just a rule of thumb, and we're talking about both very skilled individual players and players that have multi tabling down as well.Half the buyin as an hourly rate probably gets you into the elite level for that buyin, whereas around the buyin in hourly is likely making you about the best at the level. Variation can apply, particularly as the buyin levels climb (5k players aren't making 5k per hour for example, it's more gradual as you pass $200).
