Problem putting in volume playing HUSNGs

I've been poker for a living for a little over a year now. I used to play NL200-NL400 HU and 6max on euro sites, and was making good money last year when the games were softer. Recently I've started feeling that NL200+ 6maxes especially are full of regs and just too hard to beat, so I'm in the process of making the transition to HUSNGs and HU cash bumhunting. I'm down 50-60k this year on drunken PLO shots and slowly but steadily reaching bustoville. I probably would already have arrived there had I not hit a final table in a $2500 buy-in live tourney a few months back. I don't want to get a day job again so I'd really like to start making good money again. Of course I could go and grind a ton of NL100 or something, but I want to try HUSNGs as I think they're a lot more fun and most of the villains are terrible. I'm not really worried about my winrate so far, I've got a decent ROI and I think I'm beating a large percent of the field in 55s and below.

But here's my question: I don't know what the hell is wrong with me but it feels impossible to put in a good volume of HUSNGs. I mean, obviously I think 4 tables is the maximum you can play at a time so you won't be able to play tons of games in a day anyway. But I mean on the mental side as well. I just play two turbo games at a time (unless one of the players is super predictable so I can just auto-pilot and start a third one), and after like 7 games I feel exhausted and in need of a break. It feels as if I had just ran a marathon mentally, it becomes hard to think clearly and if I continue playing I start making a lot of mistakes.

I've never had this problem before as I've always been a big grinder/multitabler. I'm still able to play almost Boku style 5+ hour sessions of 30 9-45man SNGs at a time with no troubles at all, or 10 tables of NL100 6max. Obviously, my $/hour is a gazillion times better at basically any other game than HUSNGs at the moment. At NL100 I'm running 6bb/100hands at a massive 300k+ hands sample, most of that 8-tabling (I think). I think that should make me about $60/hour + rakeback = $100/hour at least. In STTs and 45man SNGs I think my ROI at $16s should be around 5% when multitabling heaps, and I can get 30+ games in per hour = again I'm making something like $60/hour. But in HUSNGs... $33 avg stake and 9% ROI = I'm making about $3 per game plus rakeback = getting in maybe 8 games per hour = $24/hour total. And what's worse, I think one hour is the maximum I can play without needing a break, which makes my $/hour even worse.

Please someone give me good advice, other than "forget husngs and go back to cash games". I think I basically have two problems:

1) HUSNGs being mentally too challenging - I think it has something to do with them needing so much thinking compared to almost any other form of poker? How do you guys manage to play 100 games in a day?

2) Reasonable hourly rate - how high do you need to be playing to really make any money at all? Could someone post what's an attainable ROI at each level (Stars)? I play euro sites too and I think the games are softer there, but I don't like the structures as much.

Thanks for any help in advance.

 33 15%
55 12%
110 9%
220 5%
That's about the max you usually see from regulars.  There are people with better stats, but I wouldn't assume you can set a new high for ROI at any level.
That's for 1-2 tables as well, I don't think 3 tabling players can do those #s long term.  You also have to be a solid 2 tabler (which you probably are bc of your experience in poker and multi tabling).
I would suggest setting aside an hour or two to grind husngs each day.  You should get in at least 9 games an hour, probably 10.  If you can get to a comfortable 2 hours a day, that's 20 games a day and you'll start to make good income in the 55/110s.
In the meantime, also play your other games, particularly the ones you have the highest hourly in.  If there are a few games that you're close to the same hourly in, play the least stressful and/or lowest variance games.  That should help ease the stress of husngs and put some extra money in your pocket.
Being able to play more than one game for good profit is a nice skill to have.
