This is the #1 thing that bothers me about poker. I think that when we play fast all the time and then suddenly take 2 seconds before acting, the opponent (even the fish) are more hesitant to call. Or when we instant bet after being aggressive the entire game they decide to bluff raise light.
So I know in reality we should be able to manipulate this, but the main problem is we need to think for a moment in hands that would be in best interest to instant bet to keep up the image. So the only solution would be to think for a couple of seconds before acting in every hand. But this way a match will take twice as long, so our hourly rate will go down and it's very frustrating to wait a couple of seconds before acting because our whole attention will go to timing tells and we tend to ignore everything else.
But I really believe instant playing gives away way too much, because you can't instant play everytime like when you have a strong hand and want to figure out which hands will pay you off.
I noticed that DiBasio plays very fast but I play much worse when I try to play fast or try to play slow. But it gives reads to the worse players out there, it's so easy to know when we have a hand and when we don't. This bothers me so much because I don't know what to do, I'm just sick of having my villains to fold everytime when I have it and call everytime when I don't even though the betsize and lines are exactly the same.
Does anyone have any advice for me on what to do? Thanks.
You don't have to time down every hand. If you just time down every few hands in random spots it should be enough to make up for it.
