Hi Nick, what stakes were you

Hi Nick, what stakes were you playing?I am assuming by your reaction you are new to actually studying the game of poker. Maybe you've played casually for a long time and finally decided to get serious about it.I've been seriously playing and studying now for 14 years, but I am brand new to HU poker. HU poker, in my opinion, is much more difficult in many aspects than other forms of poker, but I really wish I had learned HU first before playing other forms, because it would REALLY have helped my other games. In 6 max and especially 9 max, your opponent-reading ability is not nearly so important as in HU. And this is the most difficult part of poker...adjusting to opponents.Even though I have a large bankroll (I have played poker for my full living for the last five years and half of it for many years previous to that), I am starting as if I have basically no bankroll at microstakes ($2.20) regular tournaments. I am requiring myself to build up a sufficient bankroll before I move up to the next higher stakes, and each day I study at least one of my matches in depth that gave me trouble. At first, I was doing great and quickly accumulated $51+ in my new bankroll, but then I hit a bump in the road and rebounded back down to $27. So basically, I had over a ten buyin downswing. If you are playing $5 tournies, that's the equivilent of $50. Yes, some of this downswing was my bad play...actually, I would rather say lack of knowledge about HU poker. But the rest is variance of poker.Be sure to post some HHs in the "Hand Review" forum. Or I would even be willing be willing to go over one of your tournaments if you will PM me. Obviously, I'm not a HU poker coach, but maybe I can probably give you some basic tips to immediately improve your play, or let you know you are on the right track. If you read stories of many of the top players today, many (most?) of them will write that when they first started, they redeposited several times before finally something clicked and they went on to make their millions. So PM me if you are interested in a little poker discussion.
