A lot of players (me too) don’t 3bet Allin with premium hands and instead raises to 100 (with blinds 10/20, full stack) after a minraise. I like this play, but I think I need a balanced range so I should add some weaker hands to my min 3bet range. Which hands should I take? What’s a common range for this play?
This is tough to answer generally.Based it on your opponents, but I would default with both value hands and then hands a little weaker than I would call the minraise with (Q2o-Q6o, J2o-J7o perhaps, K2o-K4o, maybe a few of the weaker suited ones.... ).You won't need to do this so much as the $20-50 level, but as you move up and start to face some good regulars, I would suggest balancing out that weaker part of your range so that it has a good range of flops it can potentially hit (so you wouldn't 3bet Q2-Q6, maybe you'd 3bet K2, Q3, J4, 65, T7). Those kinds of things can allow you to more naturally take advantage of an unbalanced adjustment/strategy from your opponent since you're much more balanced than they probably assume.Your 3bet size is excellent too, 2.5x when facing the minraise is a perfect size for 20-25bb stacks.I often would begin 3bet shoving around 20bb though, sometimes a little deeper sometimes a little shorter, but the 17-22bb range is kind of the "red zone" where it changes from small 3bet to shove for me vs most opponents.
