Trading in 55,000 FPPs for $1000 electronics store card

I originally posted the following on P5s:

I've read in previous FPP threads that the $1000 onecall.com gift card is among the best values out there.  I could use a TV, so I was planning on trading in 55k FPPs for a $1000 future shop card, which is a Canadian electronics store.

Problem is, when Americans trade in 55k FPPs they get $1000 USD on an electronics store card.  I too get $1000 but it's in Canadian.  As of today, $1000 USD is worth $851.97 CDN.  So I'm not getting full value from my FPPs then, right?  Seems like it's cheaper for Pokerstars to give me the $1k card than Americans and their onecall cards.

I'm not familiar with your prices in the US so maybe it all works out after you take into consideration what electronics cost and the exchange rate, but if anyone has suggestions for better value for my FPPs I'd like to hear them.

Man I wish Pokerstars had rakeback... but I guess saving up to buy cool things works too.

If you buy the tv yourself

If you buy the tv yourself and consierge with PokerStars, they will turn 93,000 FPPs into $1,500.
So either way you look at it, I think it's a bad deal for you.

Any other good values out

Any other good values out there for FPPs?

Consierge, big cash bonuses

Consierge, big cash bonuses (the 250k for $4k USD) and probably some select satellites (4 man HU to the Sunday Million is one I know of) provide good value.
I bought some stuff from the store when I was newer to Stars, only later did I realize it wasn't a great deal for me.  No worries on it, but it did end up costing me a solid 25% or so in lost value of fpps I think.

I use conceirge once a month

I use conceirge once a month (the max) cause it's great value, other than that I just buy 4k bonuses, or if you play lower stakes buy the $1500 ones, u dont lose that much value and dont need to waste time playing games that have a lower hourly expectation than ur normal games to maximize ur FPP value (-EV overall), like the 3375 4 man or the 5400 10 man ones, but thats just my take on it

Sounds like the gift cards

Sounds like the gift cards really are the best value for those of us who aren't Supernova

I still think the sats are a

I still think the sats are a better value for non supernovas than gift cards, but I'm not positive.

If you can afford to, just save your FPPs until you move up and become supernova.  Much more value there, but you are basically saving at a 0% interest rate then (I guess you could consider future nova profit that you wouldn't have if you used them now as your interest rate, and depending on how long it took you to reach nova it may end up being a good return).
