Don't have the link, but to see the exact details/ watch the vid, go to NVG on 2p2, and tabletracker.com has the vid/ press-release/follow-ups. Cliff notes for the 'scandal' are basically-The industry standard for the encryption used for security (so nobody can hack ur PC and find ur call cards in real time/act details) is called SSL. All big sites dealing with similar security (including big-name banks) use this encryption. AFAIK, this is not only the industry standard, but free. UB/AP was using XOR encoding, which is different from encryption, and - as we saw, much more vulnerable to hackers. - It would be VERY hard for someone to do this to you, as they would need access to your server etc etc. It would not be impossible however.-Basically, this isn't a scandal (yet). It's a serious lapse in judgment, and it's amazing that this somehow got by the security team AND auditors. I don't really have an opinion on this yet. It would be absolutely astonishing IMO if there was any foul-play here, seeing as they are still under the microscope and trying to rectify their image as a reputable online poker site. But it comes down to (again) them being really stupid/ignorant and not knowing how to run a poker site, or they were fully aware and for whatever reason did nothing until it was brought to the publics' attention.
Don't forget the issues a few weeks back where they were showing your mucked cards every hand.Nemo from 2p2 had this happen. He would fold and it would show the opponent his cards.Think for a second the implications of that.
I was unaware of this actually.. I really ought to get my roll off there. I wish I could blame when recent epic downswing on all this stuff, but : \ can't lol.
You would think they would learn their lesson after the stuff that happened in the past. They're lucky anyone plays there at all after the superuser scandal. I'm surprised Phil Helmuth doesn't have something to say about this since his reputation takes a hit every time UB goes through a scandal.
Like most industries, until the main bulk of consumers really bites into their pocket, there will always be people that will take the money and work with/for them.Watch what happens next after they default. Supposedly the old owners are supposed to take over again, at least that's what I've heard in a few places.
