I'm coming from HU cash and have done a lot of studying and have had a good amount of quality coaching as well. I mainly play 200-400nl and would like to diversify and try something new (i'm also getting sick of getting bumped in the 1st round of big HU MTTs).
My 1st question; what is a comparable level for SnGs? 2nd, can you guys make a hit list of must see videos that will help me transition to SnGs.
I've played about 50 SnGs, 50s and 100s, up a little, not much tho. Anyone, who also has a lot of experience in HU cash that can give me some differences would be greatly appreciated.
TY
I'd brush up on the basics with stuff like Primo's fundamental videos. I also have some low stakes videos if you feel you need another vantage point here.
Then maybe transition into some xSCWx and Skates videos. Figure out which player you learn better from and maybe dive a little deeper into their libraries.
I'd then watch some Croix videos, particularly his later ones that are extremely high rated. Feedback on those has been great and he's been consistently killing the $550-1100 level for as long or longer than just about any husng player.
I'd also check out my end game video to familiarize yourself with husng end game. I've coached several hu cash players that make a lot more money than I do and have helped them tremendously with their end games. It's an area you really don't see too often in cash games (0-15 bbs, or even 15-30bbs deep) so it's only natural for many cash game players to not be as comfortable nor as profitable here.
We also have two guest video makers currently in our library, Hokie and Cog. Cog is currently beating the levels you mention for a solid ROI and he explains his thought process very clearly. He also limps more than most of us, so you get that unique advice from him.
Our other guest video maker, HokieGreg, has played a majority of his winning games at the $33-200 levels, so he should fit right in with the buyin levels you're looking at. I'd say his approach is more similar to myself or PrimordialAA, but there are plenty of differences, both in our analysis and how we articulate our thoughts.
That's kind of how I look at it for you, just my opinion on what we offer and how it can benefit you in different ways. If I were brand new to this site I would proably try to resist the urge to just watch the highest buyin/biggest winner's videos and start from the introductory videos and go up. Unlike many training sites, I don't think the quality of our videos is as different from top to bottom. We don't let people "sink or swim" on our site so you souldn't find too many videos that make you think "god, why did they let that guy do videos?" We also don't do personal favor posting of videos, so you won't see a clueless little brother of mine posting crap to dilute your mind.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and welcome to heads up sngs.
