Villain was loose aggro, he called wide pre and floated the flop a lot, he also liked to CR and i had caught him doing it with some less than premium hands so far, hence the chip lead.
In terms of adjustments made i had reduced my cbet frequency a little and tried to merge things up a tad, cbetting strong and weak hands but also checking some back to give him the opportunity to bluff at me when i did have something.
This particular hand I checked back the flop as the board was v wet and defo hit his calling range with plenty of draws there as well, despite having a vgood price and the fact that i had some past reads of him CR'ing me with some junk i let this one go on the turn as i was sure i could find a better spot. I figured at best i was up against a draw or maybe an 8, at worst i was crushed and drawing close to dead against straights and 2 pairs. Would anyone insta call here? I felt i was a bit weak but at the same time i wasnt beating that much. I should add if the kicker had been a 9 or a 10 i would have called.
Against this player i think check calling the river might have been better.

Against the described villain I think that you should definitely be calling here. Your description makes it sound like your QX may actually be ahead of his shoving range. As far as finding a better spot, I don't think that you should be taking future hands into consideration when deciding whether or not to call in this spot. You are 16.5BB deep and it is going to be a big mistake to give up on a spot that is +EV just in hopes of finding a better one. If you think a call is -EV then that is a different story all together, but you should definitely be careful with the "better spot" mentality.
Aggainst a maniac player I would definetly call in this spot.
With the stacks that shallow and his routine to make the pots very large, this is probably the best spot you can take, you will not have that high edge on him on future hands.
Cheers for the responses chaps, in hindisght i guess more often than not he turns up with something like tp on the flop with a draw to the straight so i should be calling.
