Before diving head first to Full Tilt HU super turbos I really need to know what kind of bankroll I need. 50 buy-ins? 100 buy-ins? I know there is crazy varience with this format. Let's assume you have a 2 - 3% roi? What kind of swings are we talking? Thanks all in advance!
I have played around 200 so far and prefer 70+ buy ins But at say $30+ I would say 100 due to competition.I have heard people recommend 100-150 as standardAs far as swings go..Probably my longest downswing was 8 games and up swing of 10-11
I've seen downswings from good players at more than 50 buyins below EV.It depends what you're willing to lose. If you're going to quit these after losing 30 buyins, you just need to make sure you're comfortable losing that monetary amount that makes up 30 buyins. I don't think most people will keep playing these if they lose 50 buyins.
Thanks guys. That only partially answered my questions though. I am a reg at 200-300 reg speed HU sngs. I am willing to take on the swings and want to invest 10k into learning these. What stakes are appropriate? 100's or 200's?
If you haven't seen Mersenneary's videos on these, I would start there. You can also watch Cog's ST videos, as well as ITRIED, myself and Fydor's end game focused videos. Then play some of these. You don't have to play at the $100s even, just jump into the $50s to start. If you do well, move up/keep playing. But if you're struggling, I'd definitely look at a coach like Mersenneary for these. There are a lot of edges to be had in these games that aren't as obvious to the average player (even solid player) as they are in other formats.
