I have about 10% roi on 5s and 2% on 10s reg speed on pokerstars...Now I am standard member just for one month and I also have a pack of videos for begginers from this site but absollutely I am not a better player like I was before watching these videos.I also payed for video leakfinder which makes for me fydor_8 and that video don't hepl me with retarded 2% roi on 10s...Its so frustrating to watch tons of videos and be still on the same place...I feel like I am biggest retard on this planet which can't understand how to play this game...Why on every video what I watched here every coach run hot like a god?Why they don't upload any videos when they run terribly bad!?I don't need still to watch how they crush people cause fisrt nuts vs. second...I need to know how they are loosing.Because losses are big part (min. 40% of the time) of this game.So I guess I need to know how to loss correctlythanks your tilted member
Hey Mr. RRReyeMMM...I completely understand your frustration. Please read my forum post from two or three days ago. I believe it's probably in the Off-Topic forum (maybe General Poker Chat):http://www.husng.com/content/played-seven-total-idiots-todaylost-seven-themPay special attention to the reply by MrRunsGood.I have played poker professionally for 14 years now, earning over half my living from it during that time. I am converting to HU SNGs and having similar problems to you. I spend every day, mostly all day, viewing videos on this site and studying, and I know I'm making great progress...It just doesn't seem like it much of the time. And by the way, I have a very large bankroll, but I am currently playing $5.25s while I'm learning. My ROI is MUCH less than 10% at $5.25s. Imagine...you think YOU feel retarded? I've been playing this game seriously for most of my adult life and I cannot beat these (seeming) idiots at HU play???And as for the instructors losing games in the videos...I have watched a good 45 videos and I see games all the time where they lose and some where they are mauled by obviously bad players. In no case do the instructors express much frustration at losing to these players, and I wish I could have the same mindset when I lose to the same players.Certainly, the instructors should be expected to win more games than me, but there are plenty of games in the videos that they do lose.Hope this helps! All I can do is keep studying, keep playing, and hope all this effort magically kicks in at some point. I am banking my entire poker future on HU play at this time.
Just wanted to add...We are both having a tough time learning this stuff, but we are TRYING to learn it. If this was easy, then we probably would not expect to make much after we learn. But since it's so difficult, I don't imagine that many others are trying hard enough to learn HU SNGs. Once you learn them, you should have a pretty great edge for life (assuming you continue your poker education).
Hey Reye,A few tips and answers for you, in addition to a question:1) I think the most underutilized thing for most members is the HH review forum here. If you're not posting hands you have questions about in that forum (or at least on a good strategy forum such as 2p2), you should absolutely start taking advantage of it. Both here and on 2p2 you'll usually get at least one very high quality response from a solid player, not to mention other discussion from peers and players a few levels above you. For struggling and newer players, this is especially important.2) With the standard membership, you should have access to some videos by HokieGreg. I think his thought process is one of the higher level ones that translates best for lower stakes players. If you haven't watched some of the videos available to you from Greg, i would take a look at one or two this week and see if you feel a lot more comfortable after watching them, and if some concepts and decisions are then much easier (and more profitable). That's no negative to the other instructors, I think Cog and Fydor in particular will be good to watch for you personally, but if you haven't watched any Hokie it may help you. ITRIED and xSCWx also have some good videos, particularly the lower stakes ones that they've made (below the $100 level), so give those a try too if you have not.3) If you're tilting or have found it tough to control your emotions, this can often turn even very good winning players into losing players. So you can imagine what tilt and frustration can do to less than dominant players and in turn their results. If this is a problem for you, it will definitely be worthwhile to focus on this right now and try to fix it.4) I assume you have not watched any Skates videos, as he was notorious for losing many games in his videos, particularly earlier ones. Our instructors don't usually select winning videos purposely or anything like that, at least not as far as I've been aware. Instructors are required to make videos to the best of their ability, so if they make a bad video where they screwed up some decisions, they may scrap that. In the end, it's more likely that you lose a match if you made bad decisions, so that might explain some more winning than losing videos, but I'd be surprised if more than 70% of the videos were of victories. I personally made a video where I lost all 3 or 4 matches awhile back and talked about how to deal with variance. You can find it HEREA few questions to go along with my advice:- How big of a factor would you say tilt has been in your games thus far?- What sorts of decisions are you finding difficult? Have you posted any hands in those situations?- If you feel confident about your decisions or feel you're making every correct decision, it might help to also post some hands in spots where you feel confident about and post your thoughts on every decision as well. This is a good exercise in finding leaks that you're unaware of, which are often the most difficult ones to fix (IE you can't fix something you don't know is broken).- How long have you been playing? What's your sample size look like? How often do you play per week? Month? A # of games for each of those is good. Do you single table or play multiple tables?I believe anybody should be able to really progress further than you have thus far with the videos and forums on this site, so I think that really pinpointing your areas of struggle and utilizing the forums, in addition to making sure you're watching and focusing on the videos, as well as your in game play, should really provide you the value you need to achieve your goals and success in this game. Sometimes it's harder at first for others and often players struggle the most when initially learning and playing the game, and find that they can consistently profit once they've had some early success. Be patient and focused and I think there's a great chance we'll see some good progression from you soon.
I am in the process of making a new video guide, but it won't be done for a few more weeks.I can recommend the following videos (best viewed roughly in this order) if you have not seen them:Primordial "Archive Videos" #1, 2, 11, 12, 14Rypac #9 (Intro to Endgame)Fydor Leakfinder 10/16/10Fydor Leakfinder 11/05/10 (brand new and awesome!)Cog Dissonance #17 (Powerpoint: Adjusting to tight players...A Masterpiece)Rypac #5 (Despite the eye-straining double-table layout, this video is 5 Stars, jam-packed with solid commentary, theory, and analysis.)Fydor #14 (Fantastic, lengthy discussions about adjusting to bad players, value betting, and playing small pots with small hands.)HokieGreg #4 (This is a somewhat more difficult video, so you need to be paying extra close attention. Jam packed with great information. Took me over two hours to take notes on this video.)Fydor #11 (Another End Game video...it's important! HUGE number of discussions about a wide variety of basic end game concepts. Recommended for novice players.)There are more videos I think I need to work in between those somewhere, but this should give players a solid start. I didn't include any Skates videos in the above list because they are not so concept-specific and only one Cog video, because I feel his style is somewhat difficult to comprehend. Cog is probably my favorite instructor, though. I just watched the HokieGreg video yesterday and found his style very good as well. All of the live play videos here with the exception of Rypac#5 are $10 games and under. I selected them based upon a variety of player types and concepts.I'll refine this list a lot later. I just threw it together based upon some of my notes. Hope it helps for now!
Thank you guys for answers!Well I started to play poker 2-3 years ago probably, just for fun and I played mostly 2nl 9max and some sngs 6max-9max.I was break even player from the start to the moment when I understood what value betting is.Then I started to play husng before six month and this format of poker I absolutely love.I gone through 1-2-5 dollars buy-ins pretty quickly but now like you know I am struggling on 10s.I have played about 600 games on 1-2-5 level and 500 games on 10s.I am playing about 200 games every month and studying almost every day but it looks like I can't find the key to this game and I am really feel like a retard.Yeah I am tilting sometimes too much. But my biggest problem is that I don't know in which part of game I am struggling.Maybe I need some next "aha moment" like value betting was for me.Maybe my bet sizing against different type of players is wrong so I am missing so much value there.Or maybe I am "experimenting" on my game too much. Or maybe my endgame is bad or mabe I need to be just patient who knows.Fydor_8 me tell that my overall game is good and he find some spots when I played bad but I am still struggling somewhere.OK I will watch videos from HokieGreg
