Your range Id feel to check

Your range Id feel to check call flop and donk turn is a large majority of trips hoping it looks like a bluff and a lower % of   draws wishing for a fold or to river villian if called.  Id say villains range in this spot is Qx plus.

I agree with ARRONWILSON. If

I agree with ARRONWILSON.

If I see a somewhat decent player call this flop and donk turn full pot my alarm bells go off, so I expect hero to have 9x most of the time. In villains position I would have a hard time calling Qx on the river.

Plan for entire range & future streets

Thanks Arron & Ronn for your feedback. I guess I should only take this line with bluffs vs you :P

FYI: I had 97o and villain had Q7o.

My line was ridiculously face up but villain was a nice guy so paid me off.

Against this particular villain, I think his call down is evidence that my line was exploitatively optimal against his actual holding (and inability to hand read / interpret bet sizes). (This line was featured in Merseneary's video 'Tricky Spots & Common Errors')

But at the time it was the 2nd hand of the match and I didn't have any reads to suggest that he was a station that couldn't hand read. Nor do I ever really have reads about villain's 2barreling & 3barreling frequencies when the turn pairs 2nd ranked card or his perception of turn or river c/r ranges in such a spot. It got me thinking a lot about how I play the rest of my range here, especially readless.

1. What's your plan from the flop onwards on this board readless (we know the stake is $7 so not entirely readless - probably value-oriented tight passive or tight aggressive type player)? Do you think another line is better than the one I took?

2. Do you thinking donking 9x here is worth capping your turn checking range vs typical villain barreling tendencies?

3. Against players who can hand read is it worth turning weak show down value hands like 5x into a bluff by taking this same line to exploit how face up our perceived range is?

Cheers,

cdon

Hi there cdon3822 I'd be

Hi there cdon3822

I'd be calling with Qx, I reckon. At the $7 level, there are just too many random bluffs, even from the bettter players. I'd agree with the others though, villain looks like Qx, hero looks like 9x but with some bluffs.

Hope this helps.
