This is a spot I found really tricky and i'm not sure I played it ok. 20 hands in with villain and he has shown to be quite spewy and aggressive. I 3bet for value and after villain flats my flop bet I am pretty sure i'm ahead as I expect he would likely raise a king, then when the turn pairs the 8 I didn't want to check as I felt villain would bet at the pot with a wide range and put me in a tough spot. I figured there was alot of draws in villains range so I bet again for value figuring I am likely still ahead. When the river comes a jack it completes some of his draws and pairs any jack in his drawing range so I couldn't see any other option than to c/f.
Should I have barreled smaller here? or should I be checking back this turn and playing my hand as a bluffcatcher?

if he´s spewy and aggressive i´d just flat ATo and let him spew his stack off when i hit. we dominate his Tx and Ax hard.
other than that i think there´s not much you can do given that runout. you only beat busted FDs. everything else he calls you with twice beats you. playing OOP sucks.
I tend to agree with Dipl Komp's comments.
Vs a spewy opponent I would have wanted to be 3b fairly actively to 3b ATo with the view that he will auto ship a ton of dominated Ax.
But vs a spewy opponent I likely haven't been 3b bluffing a ton so I don't really have the image to expect 3b to be the best play here preflop.
I prefer a flat preflop and will look to use this holding to strengthen my postflop c/c ranges which will otherwise be run over vs an aggressive opponent.
As played, what is your plan for the hand postflop?
When you decide to cbet the flop here, are you bet calling a jam?
And what is your plan for various board runouts when he continues by flatting?
- When FDs hit?
- When SDs hit?
- When turn blanks and you are still unimproved?
- When overcards come and your Tx is devalued to a bluff catcher?
Cbetting, 2barrelling turn then c/f river really implies that you made a mistake earlier in the hand here imo.
I think it was preflop but you could argue for a c/c flop and bluff catch on this postflop run out too if villain is bluffing in a 3b pot with wide enough ranges ...
But wide bluffing ranges in 3b pots would be a pretty large deviation from how people tend to play in these spots.
My plan for the hand was as played really. Bet for value on the turn and jam any blank river, c\f otherwise.
After hearing both of your thoughts, I agree I should have flatted. It would have saved me getting in to this spot in the first place.

FWIW:
Jamming river here will be pretty bad if the river blanks.
If he has enough missed draws which he will bluff when checked to relative to his 8x + we will strictly prefer to c/c rather than bet fold or jam for thin value with the way stacks are set up and the ranges we will typically see both players get to the river with.
If not, you're effectively turning your hand into a bluff to try to fold out Kx.
Just to clarify,
You are basically saying that villain isn't calling a jam with his missed draws and because the only made hands we beat are worse paired tens we end up value owning ourselves when he has a king or 8 and don't get value when he missed, so by allowing him to bluff at his missed draws we get more value from c/calling when the river blanks.
Sorry if it sounds stupid but iv'e just spent 20 minutes trying to get my head around your last post, have I got the jist here? I can be kinda slow on a saturday morning :)
