"To mark the one year anniversary of our Spin & Go tournaments, we’re permanently increasing the top prize multiplier to 10,000 times the buy-in! The next time you play one of these fast-paced, three-handed tournaments, the prize pool could reach anything up to $10,000 for a $1 Spin & Go, or up to a cool million dollars for a $100 Spin & Go."
This is just bad! It was good how it was, but they always need to make things worse!
How bad will this affect the variance?
Changes almost nothing. It's probably slightly +EV for us grinders because LifeEV of winning 10kx multiplier is more than 3.333 times better than winning 3kx multiplier due to the ability to invest in realestate and businesses after hitting.
This change mostly affects stables negatively, for everyone else it's probably slightly +EV.
I understand that it is +EV in the (very) long run, because the rake hasn't changed and it could attract more recreationals.
But how does it affect short term variance?
Almost not at all. Just play with swong sim. I mean obv it increases it a bit, but it's such a tiny effect given that only the big multiplier got changed and the change was very minimal, and again there's some room where due to current economic conditions there is some life bonus to having it lumped that makes up for some of the downside of the increase in variance. In the end it really means almost nothing, other than likely bringing some more recreational players into the games.
Ok, thanks coffee, you're the best ;)
