BB: 520 (26 bb)
Hero (SB): 480 (24 bb)
Preflop: Hero is SB with A Q
Hero raises to 40, BB raises to 60, Hero raises to 180, BB calls 120
Flop: (360) 6 9 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks
Turn: (360) K (2 players)
BB bets 180, Hero folds
Villian 3bet is 5/10 over 32 hands
I think I probably could have just 4bet shipped pre, so theres that but given as played:
would you say a reasonable range for our villian OTF is [AQo-ATo, KQ, AQs-A9s, KTs-KQs, QTs-QJs, QJs and 99-22]
I chose this range because I expected villian to 5bet jam AA-TT, and AK
Given the range I put him on and if i only expect him to be calling with only PP's, is jamming the flop the best option?
If anyone can also elaborate on the math for figuring out if a hand is a +ev shove OTF in this situation that would be great as well
sorry for the highlight, I posted this on twoplustwo but thought i might as well post it here and see what replies I can get
If the flop were 222 or maybe 225 or similar, then shipping the flop would be fine. As played, check-fold. But jamming pre would be way better. It's actually really hard to say which flops we can jam here with AQ, since everybody jams this hand pre, or flats very occasionally.
Also, I don't think there's any Ax in his range when he flats, he'd jam or fold those hands most of the time. Same with pocket pairs. In principle, a competent villain would have like KQs etc...
4 bet shipping pre seems like easiest solution and we dont get into any complicated spots post flop, although we do get a ton of folds here i think.
this flop i just ship after he checks to me considering how huge pot is and that there are no broadway cards that i think make a big part of his min 3 bet range-JT,KJ,QT,QJ,KT,KQ, and also i would discard AA-22 from his range because i think most people would rather just put the money in preflop with ALL pairs here. the smaller pairs like 22-99 would just 5 bet jam because of how hard they are to play post flop especially out of position and TT-AA for value because you make it pretty obvious you want to get the money in. so yea thats why i think he usually has no pairs in his range. but ofcs he can have some mid suited or unsuited connectors like 76,89,etc in his range but i feel that majority of his range are just broadways.
and if we are only gonna be cbetting if we connect or on super safe boards like 225 as adam said i feel it is alot better to 4 bet ship pre.
my main question here is what is most peoples min 3 bet range here?
and even more interesting question what flops should we be shipping with our AQ after he checks to us?
please feel free to disprove my thoughts and share your opinions.
