Last week, we asked several players about what kind of gifts they were giving for Christmas and how they felt they performed poker-wise in 2014. This week, we asked about aims for 2015. Here were the responses:
A few days ago I finally reached my target number of VPP points for the year 2014 (I play on PokerStars as Pl@yerABC). So the last week I had more free time to think about what happened this year and make plans for the upcoming one.
I really do believe in setting goals. My list of goals contains poker goals, family goals, health goals - to name a few categories. I think that writing about my specific goals would not be that interesting for other people. But I would like to share a few ideas (that could easily be transformed to goals) that I will try to keep in mind in 2015.
Number one: focus on time management. In recent days I have once again read Dan S. Kennedy's book No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs. I live a very busy life, so I try to make sure that I am using my time efficiently. But that's an ongoing process. We are living in a world that is full of distractions. I like to keep the book at hand to remind me to stay focused on my goals and to really pay attention to how I spend my time.
Number two: Jim Rohn quote: "Work harder on yourself than you do on your job." For me, translated to poker, it means - I should not grind all the time. I need to spend more time away from the tables, working on my game. Hopefully with this advice in mind I will be able to faster move up the limits.
Number three: Jim Rohn quote again: "Treat your body like a temple not a woodshed". A few months ago a friend of mine introduced me to yoga. I have to say - it is a great form of exercise! I don't need any special equipment, a lot of good workout videos are available for free on YouTube and the best thing is that when I do yoga I really feel better. So my goal in this health/exercise category for 2015 is clear - do at least short yoga sessions before long poker sessions.

I really don't have any goals. A few things in my head that I would like. 200k would be nice, but it's not a goal. Process goals are good but I don’t really have any new ones for 2015. Just the same as always, every day 2015 - nothing will change :)
Targets are good for motivation but in poker they can be used in the wrong way. Say you wanna make 100k and in January you lose 5k. You might not turn up in Feb or maybe you make 20k and then go on holiday! You gotta be motivated everyday!

My goals are pretty basic this year. I try not to set very firm goals because I'm not sure how my situation will be this year. Going to just try to put in my hardest work when I can play and keep up with good results.
Also: make sure my side businesses stay very good, make $1M with them in 2015, and keep a balanced lifestye/spend time with my baby.

Be happier and enjoy the small moments, be healthy and have good relations with family, girlfriend and friends; + volume, get better (poker), invest in good businesses and help others as much as I can but without risking my own future.

I’m planning on grinding really hard and studying when I’m not playing. Looking for at least 40 hours a week on average throughout the year, play occasional £500-2000 Live MTTS to get my mind off online. Profit wise ideally 150-250k, depends how I run and how capable I am in maintaining my work ethic. Lastly, regularly hit the gym 3 times a week.
