coffeeyay math pack video 9 problem.

I'm stuck trying to obtain meaningful numbers for α and β. Using the numbers for M and S from coffeeyay's work in the video when I try using the formula given at 31:31 it produces different answer to what he gets:-/

M=55.57

S=12.25

α =  [ (55.572 - 55.573)] / [(55.57+1) x 12.252)] = -19.85

β = {(55.57-1)2 x 55.57] / [(55.57+1) x 12.252)] = 19.48

The videos shows an α of 5.88 and a β of 4.70

I'm sure I'm missing something, just not sure what!

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi! So the problem is that M

Hi!

So the problem is that M and S are actually frequencies and therefore are %s. When inputting %s into formulas you need to use their decimal form instead, ie divide by 100. So the M you should use is .5557 and the S  is .1225. Put those in and you'll find you get the correct results :)

Good luck with future calculations!
