Is there much of a difference in play/toughness of games between the 7's & 15's, the 15's & 30's, and between the 30's & 60's?
At what point is the difference really noticeable when you move up stakes and games become "tougher"
Obviously bankroll limits and management is not being considered, just overall play at each level step.
From what i have heard from several players the $7 and the $15 is about the same difficulty, from my own history i would say that $15 is even easier, or maybe i have just been lucky with the opponents at 15. 1500+ games.
its a big step in difficulty from $15 to $30, but if you do your study it shouldn't be to hard.
a good reg at $30 is a mediocre reg at $60.
This is just what i have heard and nothing i know for sure.
I also can confirm the 15's seem easier than the 7's
My theory is alot of tight players are at the 15's who cannot change there style much which makes them more exploitable, but they are good at trapping people
@MojaveD - over what sample?
i believe the 15s are perceived easier than the 7s due to the fact that at the 7$ level there are much more spewtard maniacs who will increase variance for everyone involved.
I would say the $15s are more comfortable for most players than the $7s, but unlikely to be higher quality opponents.
A combination of knowing more as you move up and less random maniacs probably makes people feel that the $15s have worse opponents, but I would be surprised if that were true.
Remember, if a guy is going apeshit crazy, he may be hard to read, but you don't need to put a guy on a narrow range of hands when he's betting every single river to know that your bottom pair is a good (and very profitable) call.
It is quite possible that your edge in $15s is higher than $7s, but I think it would not be due to the opponents being worse, if that makes sense.
The 15s are slightly tougher than the 7s but they have a slightly smaller rake.
Occasionally it may seem that the higher buyin level is easier but that is just variance - over few hundred games you may run into weaker than average opponents at 15s and tougher than average ones at 7s. But overall 7s can't be tougher than 15s, it's impossible.
what about the difference between $3.50's and $7's?
I've just started my transition from turbos to hypers, I started with $1.50's, found the players to be absolutely atrocious, so moved to $3.50's where they seem equally atrocious. How much tougher do the 7's get?
Not enough to worry. Standard doesn't really get tough till 60s although there are still some regs playing 30s.
