I'm unsure on how to play bottom pairs. Let's say the flop comes Q-8-5 and we have 5-7. When do we want to bet this and when do we not?

Like when their aggressive, passive, station or nitt. Are we trying to get value here or are we trying to get him to fold. And if we are trying to get him to fold, do we want to check it behind if he calls wide? And what if he does call wide and is passive or aggressive, how does that change our decision again?

Kind of a confusion here. Hope someone can clear things up.
