Short interview with husng turbo player Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis

Charles Hawk: Tell me about your journey to the 100s: struggles you faced, lessons you learned, strengths you gained, weaknesses which you eliminated from your game. How long did it take to establish yourself in 100s? How many games did you play? Tell me about your swings...

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: I started playing 15 Husng turbos two years ago and shortly moved to 30s. That is when I started taking poker more serious and really working on my game.  Pbogz helped me quite a bit when i was at 60s.

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: The 100s have been a great experience. I first started playing 100s last year and lost 50 buy-ins fairly fast. My approach was all wrong and I had some leaks that were costing me. This year I have been getting coached by Sverigelottn and he has helped me a lot. I have around 700 games at 100 and plan to continue battling 100s and move my way up the stakes. The biggest struggle I have faced with 100s division is the swings. Playing regulars means much smaller edges. As far as strengths I just review and work on my game when I'm not playing and keep trying to better my game.

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: Right now I am still in the process of establishing myself at the 100 division. I have played close to 1k games this year at 100s and the swings are bigger than I am used to. It is very common to win or lose 10-15 buy-ins and that can mess with your head. I make sure to keep my cashier balance hidden.

Charles Hawk: How do you balance poker with other life activities. What do you do outside poker?

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: Balance is essential to success in my opinion. I work part time for a construction company and live an active social life. I try to play 4 times a week maximum but very long sessions mixed with breaks.

Charles Hawk:  What are the advantages of being a husng turbo reg compared with husng hypers and spin and goes?

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: The advantages of being a Husng turbo reg compared to hyper and spin regs is definitely the lack of variance in turbos. I find Husng turbos more fun as well.

Charles Hawk: How has the husng turbo game changed from the older daysr?

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: The Husng turbo game action has dried up considerably now to what it once was. There is still action but players are better now and less clueless. That being said there are still plenty of good spots.

Charles Hawk: What is your grinding routine?

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: For my grinding routine I wake up, get coffee and breakfast and start playing.

Charles Hawk: Any funny stories related with poker?

Chris "CHD17" Horn-Davis: About a year and a half ago I was staked by husng and met a friend that many on husng will know, sirtansley. We both grinded 15s at the time and were fish. He came and stayed at my place for the weekend. The first night I had some friends over and we got really drunk and went to the bar. On the way back to my apartment I locked him and some other friends in the lobby. He kicked the glass lobby door and just destroyed it lol. The next day followed with me in the office watching a video of myself fist pumping at what happened and cheering lol awkward moment in the management office.
