Turn sizing after a flop check raise.

After getting to this turn and having no idea how to size a bet or what range I was really betting into.

I realize now that I should either be just calling with my overs and backdoor against a FD or check raising to 120 to rep the FD and shove turns. Which line do you prefer?

Hi there andre3kAs a default

Hi there andre3k

As a default strategy, I would c/r the flop a little larger, to 120, for value and a little protection. On this turn, we have picked up a backdoor heart draw, although there are straight draws out there. I would try to bet something opponent can call, maybe something just over 1/2 pot, and then shove any river. If opponent has a draw, we very likely have hearts covered, so there aren't too many cards we're scared of.

Anytime opponent has us beat, he will shove the river, and we're not folding. So we may as well pick up value from his worse Qx etc and shove ourselves, regardless of what comes.

All of this is rather player dependent however. Against an opponent who was particularly spewy, check-shoving the turn might be the best line, for example. Alternatively, checking the river when the draws have missed might be good, to induce a bluff from a missed draw.

Hope this helps

If you are playing a decent

If you are playing a decent player i defs prefer flatting with the queen of hearts for the times the runout comes runner runner heart.  You will need strong hands to flat with too in this spot otherwise you are really unbalanced against someone paying attention to how you play your ranges, if you are just flatting your weaker range and raising top pair plus your range is more face up and you may get  barreled off your 2nd and 3rd pairs by aggressive players that pick up on this.  I think if you are going to checkraise flop and barrel turn it should be congruent to the sizes you would do there with a bluff also, id imagine you never checkraise 3x on flop and shove turn with a complete airball.

Hi there arronwilson This is

Hi there arronwilson

This is a $3.50 game, so I don't imagine balance is relevant?

I didn't see that but that's

I didn't see that but that's not to say a good player may not be playing a 3.50 game cause it does happen sometimes when they go bust at the higher levels. I guess just go with whatever play you think maximizes profit in these spots if your opponent isn't thinking about ranges, from what i remember though at the lower stakes players are more likely to barrel off than shove over a checkraise here with total air but then again i have seen some crazy plays at 3.50s so I am not 100% sure about that.

I think

I'm not check raising this board to 3x very often so i guess i would prefer to just call especially because of the potential to call rivers when it goes runner runner and i'm not particularly afraid of overs.

Thank you adam I like the idea of check raising the turn against an opponent who bets the turn thin and will think my range has low suited connectors and also being able to check call rivers instead of what i usually find myself doing which is bluff donking the river.
