Charles Hawk: what poker player(s) you look up to most?
--
Daniel 'Pl@yerABC" Sklar: I have never tried to be like somebody else, I always wanted to be the best version of myself. Anyway, some players heavily influenced my poker journey (even though I don't know them personally):
Dan Harrington - I have read all his books. Actually, his books introduced me to poker and made me a winning player from the get go. I have read them multiple times and they are - worn out - still in my library.
Barry Greenstein - his book Ace on the river and his videos and interviews - I have read and watch them all. I have learned what it means to be a professional player, how to think and how to act like the professional player. Also his generosity and his giving to charity is very inspirational.
Tommy Angelo - the book Elements of Poker and his videoseries are pure gold. His work was my starting point on the journey to tiltlessness (which never ends). Because of his videos I got interested in meditation, breathing and it let me to so many new insights - not only in poker by in my whole life.
For influences directly related to HeadsUp and Spins:
Will Tipton - his books are fantastic, they were so ahead of time. I could imagine how much work he put into creating such a cutting edge stuff.
Mersenneary - read his free e-book! His videos about ROFL (it introduced me into strategies that include limping), deck of leaks, about analyzing your database and looking for empirical evidence... all great stuff!
Coffeeyay - I really respect his work. It's clear to me when watching/reading his materials - that he puts so much work into them - to do mathematical models of different situations and from all those numbers to extract useful information and translate them into english language is extremely time consuming. He brings real value. So anytime he produces a video/is guest in a twich channel/writes a post on twoplustwo - I am paying close attention and I make notes.
Jack "jackstack99/aisixer3jk" Ketendjian: Helio tyf
Paul "Cog Dis" Collins: I look up to players who inspire people to play the game, who make poker popular to the masses.
People like Daniel Negreanu who has been an ambassador for poker, and Chris Moneymaker. Neither of those guys are the most technically skilled players, but both helped put food on my plate by popularizing poker.
Andy "mightmad" Lee: mr green / ike haxton / fedor.
Andy "mightmad" Lee: I saw him in vegas and I shouted go fedor!!!!!!! He looked at me and blanked me :(
Andy "mightmad" Lee: Talked to mr green, he was rly cool.
Zak 'BOOMF' Wray: honestly, none
Darius "AAnythingKK": Pretty much everyone who's top of their game and puts in tons of work. Jungleman, Ike Haxton, 307th, Fedor Holz, Ben Tolerene. Bonus points to people with good work/life balance, charity and good attitude.
Richard "chadders0" Chadwick: Mersennary ainec, he was a great player for his time, super nice guy who gave back loads to the community, was at the forefront of hyper theory and topped if all off by having the guts to leave when the money was falling off trees to go do something more fulfilling
