Calling with ATo+ A9s+ KQs 55+ on the AT hand.Definitely a weird hand where you have the AQ, but I think you have to bet/call the turn, he can have worse Ax that just decides it's good.Nothing you should do different with T6, A8 is probably the bottom of my calling range.I would flat the river raise with the K3.Preflop decision with the AQ depends on what you mean by "really aggro and spazzy". If he's been aggro preflop and we already have a 4bet dynamic, I just ship it in pre without a second thought. If not, and you just mean aggro and spazzy postflop, then it's close...but I still prefer jamming or folding to flatting, I think. Basically if we think his range is wide then jamming is good and if we don't then it doesn't really matter how spazzy he is because he only has premiums.I'd 3bet bigger with the KJ, t280 or even t300 is good, you'll still get all the calls with lots of dominated Kx/Jx hands. As played, I think I would fold once you make it this small.Great to hear you're running well :)
Really tough session today, went down some $800, already wanted to call it a day and whine about how bad things are - then I ran into this guy.And this ended with abou the sickest home run that I've ever had in a very long time, actually managed to end the session break-even after this guy lost 11 buy-ins to me :-)If you guys want to see some really funny hand, have a look at this hand here ! With the A8, I'd make a much bigger flop 3-bet sizing, and I am getting it in without additional reads that his c/r range is tight.Usually you want to pick a better 3bet bluff hand than 82o. I'd c-bet the flop, probably a little smaller.
This one was against a good reg. We registered at the same time, I asked whether he wants to chop, but he declined and wanted to play. This happened a few hands into the game, nothing really happened so far.23 Hands, he opened 10/12 buttons, 3rd time that I flatted and he cbet every time so far.Since he's a good reg, I don't give him too much 5x after he flops my c/r, there's a fd and some sd's out there - and if I actually c/r him here with a fd, then I'm almost always gii if he comes over the top (all my fd's also have 2 overcards). So I'm basically betting for value ott against 4x / overcards / draws. No Limit Holdem Tournament • 2 Players$96.32+$3.68 Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter SBJagz71420 BBHero1580 Effective Stacks: 47bb Blinds 15/30 Pre-Flop (45, 2 players)Hero is BBJagz7 raises to 70, Hero calls 40 Flop (140, 2 players) Hero checks, Jagz7 bets 70, Hero raises to 210, Jagz7 calls 140 Turn (560, 2 players) Hero bets 315, Jagz7 calls 315 River (1190, 2 players) Hero goes all-in 985, Jagz7 goes all-in 825 Final Pot: 3000

Still a bit early for this, but I'm so curios, so I'm asking anyways:How different is $200 and above from $100 - and which bankroll would you recommend to take a shot ?At the moment, I'm thinking maybe $10k and having played at least some 800-1000 games at the $100's, what do you think ?I'm also thinking about August and beyond, I'll most likely have a non-poker job again somewhere around end of August / early September, and I'm wondering whether I can get the required bankroll and skills to play $200/$300 by then to make some decent money even if I can only grind at the weekends. In the past, I've always played at least some 250 games per month, so if I could reach maybe some ~4% ROI at the $100's or 2.5-3% at the $200's, then I could still make some $1k/month even while having a full time job.
No issues with the 67o hand, wp.I'd lead turn small with the A7 for thin value. I'd just flat the river raise against anybody halfway decent. With the T9, you're right that it's awkward to get value. I think the small bet on the turn is going to be a lot of Ax/Kx/7x/pocket pairs. I think I'd make a non-allin bet on the river. If there's any dynamic at all of him getting suspicious and making hero calls I think you have to raise turn/jam river, but absent that, I think your line is good (other than river sizing).I'm perfectly fine with jamming 44 esp given gameflow.I think your check/raise size is a little too big with the Ax, but only marginally. As played, I like betting turn and river, nh.
"How different is $200 and above from $100 - and which bankroll would you recommend to take a shot ?"There is much more of regs sitting other regs when you make this jump, and the regs tend to be better, that's really the only difference."At the moment, I'm thinking maybe $10k and having played at least some 800-1000 games at the $100's, what do you think ?" Sounds about right. I'd take a 5BI shot with that roll and see how it goes.
Thanks a lot for your quick answers :-)Regarding the 67o hand, is it standard for him to call me down and go broke with 4x there? It wasn't even A4, but something like Q4o I think - and he had no draw. I'm a bit confused here as to why this apparently good reg refuses to chop with me then calls me down that light.Got really unlucky in that 44 hand, Oshri showed up with Aces - but considering that she just lost a huge pot with Queens, I really didn't expect her to be that strong and there's really a decent chance she's doing that same large 3bet with all kinds of junk that has to fold against me jam or gii against a chop. And that Pastillo guy actually flatted me on this dangerous board with AQ - without any flush-draw. Btw. what's my plan if I c/r to ~160 here and he comes over the top - I suppose we're gii here due to the many draws ? And would you agree that A9 should be the lowest Ax hand to do that with ? I just flat with A7 or worse in these spots, is that correct ?So regarding the $200's - how much better is the average opponent ? Are they so good that I have to like crush everyone who has a 5% ROI at the $100's or is it not that extreme ?Maybe I should modify my moving up requirements and add a requirement to play more regs at the $100's once I've crossed the $8k mark. At the moment, I'm purely bumhunting and chop with about everyone who accidentally joins at the same time - so I think once I'm feeling a bit more comfortable at the $100's, I'll stop that and just play them to see how it goes.
After I read that thread about button opening frequencies on 2+2, I looked at my own stats and realized that I have 69% VP$IP / 64% PFR overall and 71/71% in the first blind level. Is this too tight or is it ok as long as I'm winning ?
Ending today's session early - only 45 games, and I'm a bit short of my daily 1000 VPP target ...But I'm up 7 buy-ins and just crossed the lifetime threshold - never had a higher bankroll than today in my entire life - just made it past the $6250 mark :-)Had a very cool match against jenna86 this afternoon - she's really tough to play against and I promised her not to sit her anymore in near future. Then, I sat some "fish regs" and made some money.Only played 230 games at the $100's yet, but it's going really good so far.
His 4x calldown is going to be bad against most. I think your understanding of the Ax hand is pretty good, I don't mind villain's flat with AQ, I'd flat as well. It's not like a massive jump from $100s to $200s in terms of reg skill, but it is noticable.
I've recently come across a few players who're overall very tight oop, but 3bet a lot more than they're flatting - for instance they have 15% coldcall and 30% 3bet or something like that. What's the best strategy against these opponents ?I was thinking that since they only play less than 50% of their hands oop, it is +EV to open 100% of my buttons (is it?), but when I get 3bet they're stronger than you'd usually expect, so I should proceed cautiously against that.

I think I'd call river on the Q8 hand. You'll see slowplayed flushes here for sure, but I think he should have enough JT/J9/T9 with a spade type hand that it justifies a call given his aggression frequency. He doesn't rep anything played like a normal person. You have top two on a dry board 34bb deep on the K8 hand - the money is going in. Unlucky.A7 hand isn't fun, that's for sure. I would generally fold to the turn overbet, but bad times.99 hand is standard, no better option.
Smallstakes reg.He already checked back bottom pair, then raised my lead on another board of this type, therefor I decided to lead out here with my flopped straight.Wasn't sure what to do otr after the flush got there - since he already raised my flop lead before, I expected him to do the same with a fd - but on the other hand, I came over the top that hand and he folded - so maybe he was afraid I could do the same again here. So this guy was very aggro, 3betted and c/r me a ton. This guy is a reg, but he was a little bit tilted - insisted on playing 4 tables against me to win some volume challenge, which I declined - and I was running like god against him.Would this be a good spot for him to overbet-jam river against me ?I think I made a huge mistake here by not barreling the turn since I barreld turn with all my value hands and flush draws before - therefor I have some weak showdown value type hand otr, but never any good Ax or the flush. So the only hands that really beat him otr and that I'd play the same way are J6 / 46 and 66.However, it wouldn't really make that much sense for him to ever overbet-jam the flush since my range is so incredibly weak. And if I actually did bet this turn for let's say 70% pot and he checked to me otr - that'd be the perfect situation for me to overbet-jam, right ? He's not a fish and he c/r me a ton before, so he'd c/r all his value hands to get them in otf / ott and I'd expect him to c/r all his fd's as well. So I'm really running like God this week :-)Which makes me think that maybe this huge downswing in the middle of the month wasn't tilt after all but just normal variance. My BR just hit the $7k mark (including rakeback) and I had to quit my session early to avoid "winner's tilt" - 22k VPP's this month, 29k left till SuperNova. Also ordered the new Jared Tendler book a few days ago, am really looking forward to read it.
Leading seems OK with the 75. I'm also jamming the river. There's far more than just flushes in his range. With the KQ, it is a decent spot for him to bluff river, your range is going to be pretty capped not betting this turn and he can rep made flushes decently.I think the jam with the J6 is definitely too thin. I'm definitely jamming 77 vs that frequency, nh.I'm folding the 89 on the river against a passive player. This cbet sizing and 3 bets is very likely to be a strong hand. The one thing that would change this is that if he's the type who can't value bet "thin" - his only big hands are flushes and full houses, and most passive players don't barrel flushes. So I'd want to know that he can have A9 here with this sizing. But that also doesn't really matter if he shows actually close to no bluff frequency, sometimes all he reps are full houses and that's just actually all he has.I fold QJo pre against this 3bet size and low 3bet frequency, but it's close. Your line post is good.
Another of these passive guys - but he already c/r 4 of 17 times over ~100 hands. My plan was to proceed very cautiously ott, but then improved to a fd - but I was really unsure whether to look him up otr./Edit: In the rematch, he checked back flop, then raised turn with AJ on ATx where turn added a 2nd flush draw - I jammed over the top with AT and he snapcalled with top pair, no redraw. Doesn't sound very passive to me! I would just jam over the turn bet - he only needs like 30% to call the shove, so it's going to be best against his draws and he's already shown the ability to overplay top pair, so we don't have to worry about him folding that.
Just a quick question:Today, I minraise/called AJo for ~12bb in a 100 EUR turbo against a reg. He then asked me in chat why I'm minraising this hand at these stack sizes rather than openshoving and said something like his 3bet-jamming range is exactly the same as his flatting range if I openjammed a balanced range.Should I change anything in my play against this guy ?
When I'm faced with a 3bet early in a superturbo readless, how loose should I call them and which hands should I just jam over the top ?So far, I've been jamming KQ, A9s+, A8o+, 22+ - but I think I have been flatting smaller 3bets too wide. For instance, I'm just so used to flat a 3bet early on against an unknown with hands like JTs - but then I suddenly look at a t240 pot with just t380 behind and have no idea what to do.

Opening wide 10-15bb deep against people who are too tight at this stack depth was one of my biggest edges against regs in STs.

Cool :-)Another quick ST question:How many tables would you recommend me to play ? I started to read over all the other student's threads and saw that chadders 4-tabled them, but he was also very good in them.Do you think 2-tabling is fine in the beginning or should I only single-table while I'm still learning ?I still don't want to fully switch over, so I'm still opensitting $100 / 100 EUR / $200 turbos while playing these and sometimes I end up at 3 tables which kinda sucks. And how many of these do I need to play before I have some anywhere decent samplesize ? My gut feeling tells me at least 1k or is that still too few of them ?
It's really just where you feel comfortable, I wouldn't do more than 2 as a beginner, but I think 2 is definitely doable depending on your comfort level. The bigger sample the better obv for STs. If you're a 53% winner at STs, you'll win 500 or less in a 1k sample around 3% of the time (assuming independent events, constant skill level, no tilt, etc). So that's a decent place to start. You really need 10k to feel super solid about it given all the extraneous factors.

No Limit Holdem Tournament • 2 Players$96.32+$3.68 Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter SBJagz71420 BBHero1580 Effective Stacks: 47bb Blinds 15/30 Pre-Flop (45, 2 players) Hero is BB Jagz7 raises to 70, Hero calls 40 Flop (140, 2 players) Hero checks, Jagz7 bets 70, Hero raises to 210, Jagz7 calls 140 Turn (560, 2 players) Hero bets 315, Jagz7 calls 315 River (1190, 2 players) Hero goes all-in 985, Jagz7 goes all-in 825 Final Pot: 3000

Don't worry too much about opening range, seems pretty normal. Just look for spots to adapt and open more often when appropriate.

One of these great spots where I 3bet some decent PP and there's an overcard and a flush draw on a board that's kinda hard to hit in a reraised pot. This is also some older hand that I just found in my database - I'm currently going over a few hands that I'm usure about how to play - but unfortunately, I don't remember anything about this guy anymore. No Limit Holdem Tournament • 2 Players$57.67+$2.33 Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter BBHero1210 SBrobertotb1790 Effective Stacks: 30bb Blinds 20/40 Pre-Flop (60, 2 players) Hero is BB robertotb raises to 80, Hero raises to 240, robertotb calls 160 Flop (480, 2 players) Hero bets 240, robertotb calls 240 Turn (960, 2 players) Hero goes all-in 730, robertotb calls 730 River (2420, 2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: 2420
"I've recently come across a few players who're overall very tight oop, but 3bet a lot more than they're flatting - for instance they have 15% coldcall and 30% 3bet or something like that. What's the best strategy against these opponents ? I was thinking that since they only play less than 50% of their hands oop, it is +EV to open 100% of my buttons (is it?), but when I get 3bet they're stronger than you'd usually expect, so I should proceed cautiously against that."Open close to 100% of buttons, yeah, but I don't agree that he's stronger than usual if he's 3betting 30%, that's going to be a lot of weaker stuff. I'd recommend limping stuff that flops well but can't call a 3bet.
So by him check/calling 2 streets on this board, he has at most some weak Ax type hand, but never two pair or better. As played, there isn't really any point in doing anything other than folding otr since I'm not repping anything, right ?No Limit Holdem Tournament • 2 Players$96.32+$3.68 Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter BBsa12511210 SBHero1790 Effective Stacks: 30bb Blinds 20/40 Pre-Flop (60, 2 players) Hero is SB Hero raises to 80, sa1251 calls 40 Flop (160, 2 players) sa1251 checks, Hero bets 80, sa1251 calls 80 Turn (320, 2 players) sa1251 checks, Hero checks River (320, 2 players) sa1251 bets 240, Hero folds Final Pot: 560
Same guy.So we're extremely shallow here. He did 3bet-jam a ton and also jammed over my limps when we were below 15bb. And this guy is a reg - he has his SS blocked, but rating 90 / avg stake $145 on PO, so we can easily assume he's at least halfway decent.Which means, he never has Ax here. And he already has seen me limp-trap him with strong hands while we were below 15bb. But I should never have any Ax here like ever - so I'd expect him to lead the flop with all his Qx type hands (he already lead flops in limped pots at these stack sizes before).Otr, he has 390 behind - going for some thin value here ? Or maybe I should have bet/called turn instead ?
He's going to be pretty polarized with this river sizing. Checking turn is fine.Glad you're running well!!! :)

Random fish, 1st time that he 3bet me, but he has been aggro before post-flop.Good defend with QJo here ?
If I had this read before, then I probably should lean more towards calling otr here / or even jamming ott here.No Limit Holdem Tournament • 2 Players$96.32+$3.68 Hand converted by the official HUSNG.com hand converter SBHero1415 BBapentaros1585 Effective Stacks: 47bb Blinds 15/30 Pre-Flop (45, 2 players) Hero is SB Hero raises to 60, apentaros calls 30 Flop (120, 2 players) apentaros checks, Hero bets 60, apentaros raises to 150, Hero calls 90 Turn (420, 2 players) apentaros bets 300, Hero calls 300 River (1020, 2 players) apentaros bets 630, Hero calls 630 Final Pot: 2280

You can definitely flat JTs and other suited connector hands - just pick up some equity and get it in :) Post confusing hands.
